ABSTRACT: Aware of the importance of educational research to promote transformations that offer the national and international society an appropriate and relevant education, which at the same time contributes to the human development, in February of 2011 within the framework of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of its foundation, the Research Institute in Education (INIE) organized the II International Congress of Educational Research: Its Impact on the Social Reality. For this purpose, the INIE invites the academic staff from different universities from around the world to put forth their research. In fact, this event brings together more than 170 professionals from both our country as well as other nations who for three days discuss the results of their research and offer proposals for educational improvement. Therefore, in this report, many papers and lectures presented in this academic activity appear. Due to the diverse topics presented during the II Congress, the report was organized in nine chapters. The first refers to the school as a field of research and includes works on school efficiency, educational technologies, school and adolescence which is why it is of interest for professionals working in schools. The second chapter deals with the importance of critical reflection of teaching as an essential requirement for pedagogical transformations. Meanwhile, the third chapter deals with the issues of school violence and classroom discipline, and it includes a proposal for a harmonious school environment. In the next chapter, the analysis of higher education is clear, as well as desertion, staying in school and graduation of the student population. As for the fifth chapter, it narrates women's stories, who worked in a university environment in the past, where they describe their various forms of participation, their perceptions and the exercise of power, their accomplishments, their contributions and the existence of gender inequality as a result of patriarchal culture. Chapter six shows research on the theoretical and practical training and research from education majors, in addition to studies on professionals in education. The following section refers to two lectures that analyze methodological issues in educational research. The eighth chapter offers didactic proposals and educational experiences for pre-school education, primary education, and university education which refer to the reading of images, to work with a heterogeneity population in an assertive and inclusive manner, to adequate management of solid wastes, and to experiences in the Chemistry Laboratory for scientific learning. Finally, the last chapter focuses on the critical analysis of education at a general level and the Latin American context.
