Los métodos y técnicas cuantitativas para análisis de datos en la investigación educativa universitaria

Abstract

El Proyecto trabajó con el objetivo de indagar sobre la metodología de la investigación educativa, enfocada en los modelos de ecuaciones estructurales y los modelos jerárquicos lineales, a fin de profundizar sobre el tema y posibilitar su aplicación a docentes, investigadores y estudiantes. Uno de sus objetivos específicos consistió en elaborar un texto sobre métodos y técnicas cuantitativas para el análisis de datos en la investigación universitaria y probarlo con estudiantes de grado, post grado e investigadores en general. La investigación está dirigida a los diferentes profesionales, investigadores, estudiantes de post grado, evaluadores y Centros de Investigación, Empresas Evaluadoras como: CIPGALLUP, INTEL, entre otros. Debido a que son pocos los materiales existentes con lenguaje comprensible y accesible al manejo de estos paquetes estadísticos relacionados con los modelos de ecuaciones estructurales y modelos jerárquicos lineales. Durante el inicio del proyecto se desarrollaron lecturas y la elaboración de una base de datos, para generar la teoría en relación con el tema de los modelos jerárquicos lineales y los modelos de ecuaciones estructurales. En conjunto con este trabajo, se implementaron varios talleres de práctica, para poner a prueba los textos y prácticas elaborados, pues la idea general consistía en que los investigadores con formación y con poca formación en estadística pudieran comprenderlos. Además, se pudo realizar un taller internacional sobre los Modelos Jerárquicos Lineales aplicados a la investigación educativa, con el Dr. José Luis Gaviria, de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Entre las conclusiones del proyecto se mencionan las siguientes: Fundamentados en el primer objetivo: Identificar en las diversas fuentes bibliográficas de datos, se ha podido obtener la identificación de fuentes de datos muy valiosas, con los principales autores sobre los temas seleccionados. Con estos escritos se han podido separar una gran cantidad de temas pertinentes, que giran alrededor de la metodología y se han extraído citas importantes, sobre temas neurálgicos. Este objetivo se cumplió totalmente. Respecto del segundo objetivo, elaborar un libro de texto sobre la metodología de investigación cuantitativa, se ha de mencionar que los modelos de ecuaciones estructurales y los modelos jerárquicos lineales, fueron logrados totalmente en su componente teórico y con los ejemplos. Respecto del tercero, Taller sobre la metodología de análisis cuantitativo, este ha logrado avanzar más allá de las expectativas, pues la misma necesidad de los investigadores (as), ha puesto en evidencia la importancia de este objetivo y hemos tenido que realizar más talleres de los planificados, pues siempre existen solicitudes de tesiarios, doctorandos y otros investigadores, quienes necesitan apoyo sobre los temas de estudio de esta investigación. Este objetivo permitió que tanto la empresa privada SIP-GALLUP como Hellen Picado, lograran finalizar sus problemas de investigación. La primera utilizando los modelos de ecuaciones estructurales, para un problema de estimación en la proyección de votantes por cantón. La Segunda, concluyó su tesis fundamentada en los modelos jerárquicos lineales, llegando a los talleres, utilizando nuestro texto y sobre todo, apoyándola como lector de su trabajo de grado, dado que ninguno de los otros lectores conocía la metodología de investigación.

ABSTRACT: The objective of the project was to investigate the educational research methodology which focused on structural equation and linear hierarchical models in order to study the subject in depth and allow for teachers, researchers and students to put into practice. One of its specific objectives was to create a text on quantitative methods and techniques for data analysis in university research and to test it with undergraduate, postgraduate students and researchers. The research is aimed at different professionals, researchers, postgraduate students, evaluators, research centers and evaluating companies such as: CIPGALLUP, INTEL, among others. Due to the fact that there are fewer existing materials with comprehensible language and accessible for the management of those statistical programs related to the structural equation and linear hierarchical models. During the beginning of the project, readings were developed and a data base was created to generate the theory related to the topic of structural equation and linear hierarchical models. In addition to this work, several practice workshops were implemented in order to test the prepared texts and practices since the general idea was that researchers with or very little training in statistic could comprehend it. Also, an international workshop on the Linear Hierarchical Models applied to educational research with Dr. José Luis Gavira from the Complutense University of Madrid was carried out. Among the conclusions of the project, the following can be mentioned: • Based on the first objective: to identify the various bibliographic sources of data; it has been possible to obtain the identification of very valuable data sources with the main authors on the selected topics. Because of these texts, it has been possible to separate a great number of relevant topics that revolve around the methodology, and important quotes on key topics have been extracted. This goal was fulfilled in its entirety. • With regard to the second objective: to elaborate a textbook on the methodology of quantitative research; it is to be mentioned that the structural equation and linear hierarchical models were fully achieved in its theoretical component and with examples. • Regarding the third: workshop on the methodology of quantitative analysis; this has managed to progress beyond expectations because the same need for researchers has highlighted the importance of this objective, and we had to do more workshops that those planned since thesis and doctoral students and other researchers, who need support on the subjects of study of this investigation, are always requesting them. This objective allowed both the private company SIP-GALLUP and Hellen Picado to finish their research problems. The first using the models of structural equations for an estimation problem in the projection of voters by canton. The second concluded her thesis based on linear hierarchical models by attending the workshops, using our text and above all, supporting her as a reader of her final paper since none of the other readers knew the research methodology.
