ABSTRACT: INIE's line of research on the history and development of the academic and professional life of women professors and researchers at the University of Costa Rica has been constant. In this research, the current situation lived and built by women in the University is deepened. The work includes the study of experience in the following areas: Health, Social Sciences, Arts and Letters, Basic Sciences, Food Sciences, as well as Engineering, which allows an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approach to the problem. To do this, the inquiry is carried out with a hermeneutic approach through life stories, in-depth interviews and focus groups. The participating women were selected at the convenience of the researchers to the extent that they met the inclusion criteria, namely: professional experience as a teacher and researcher, active civil servants, with a minimum academic degree of master's degree and with a category of associate or professor . The current policies of the University of Costa Rica emphasize the search for equity and non-discrimination in the university environment, so the research is in accordance with the university policies proposed for the 2016-2020 five-year period. This study delves into the current situation experienced by women in specific areas of university knowledge, in order to account for the conditions in which they perform and thus compare these data with the results of the aforementioned studies. The foregoing will make it possible to assess whether or not there are changes in the academic culture of female professors and researchers at the UCR in the areas of Health, Social Sciences, Arts and Letters, Basic Sciences, Food Sciences, as well as Engineering.
