Indicadores educativos para la sostenibilidad para los campus de las universidades públicas de Costa Rica.

Resumen
El proyecto tiene como objetivo general potenciar acciones de sostenibilidad en los campus universitarios estatales por medio de un sistema de indicadores que contribuyan al fortalecimiento de la gestión integral y de una cultura ambiental.
La metodología implementada para la construcción de los indicadores fue de carácter cualitativa. Contó con la participación de funcionarios académicos y administrativos involucrados en las acciones orientadas a la gestión ambiental integral en los campus universitarios, así como expertos académicos en educación ambiental y desarrollo sostenible. Se realizaron entrevistas, encuestas, sesiones de trabajo usando la técnica de grupos focales. Se buscó información bibliográfica, así como la disponible en las páginas web de las universidades.
Entre los resultados se mencionan los siguientes:
La matriz de indicadores ambientales contribuye a fortalecer la convicción epistemológica en relación con que las universidades públicas deben ser ejemplo en la incorporación de la Dimensión Ambiental (DA), lo cual trasciende la mirada sobre la gestión ambiental e integral como centro de la sostenibilidad, por eso propone que lo fundamental es ofrecer una herramienta que contenga una visión holística e integradora en materia de educación y gestión ambiental integral como engranajes para la sostenibilidad de los campus universitarios.
En la construcción de una cultura ambiental se debe partir de la formación profesional y del abordaje sistémico integral del quehacer universitario, para que las universidades puedan constituirse en interlocutores legitimados en este campo para la sociedad.
El fortalecimiento del quehacer interuniversitario en esta materia promueve la cooperación y el aprendizaje colectivo e interinstitucional, lo cual facilita el intercambio de experiencias y lecciones aprendidas mediante la aplicación de la matriz de indicadores realizada, ya que esta puede ser utilizada para realizar estudios comparativos desde una perspectiva diacrónica y sincrónica.
ABSTRACT: The general objective of the project was to promote sustainability actions in state university campuses through a system of indicators that contribute to the strengthening of integral management and an environmental culture. The methodology implemented for the construction of the indicators was of a qualitative nature. In addition, academic and administrative faculty as well as academic experts in environmental education and sustainable development participated and were involved in activities geared towards the integral environmental management in the university campuses. Thus, interviews, surveys, work sessions were conducted using the focus group technique, and bibliographical information was sought, as well as the one available on the universities' websites. Among the obtained results, the following are mentioned: The environmental indicators matrix contributes to strengthen the epistemological conviction in relation to which of the public universities must be an example in the incorporation of the Environmental Dimension (DA), which transcends the vision of the environmental and integral management as a center of sustainability. Therefore it proposes that the fundamental thing is to offer a tool that has a holistic and integrative vision in education and integral environmental management as inner workings for the sustainability of the campuses University. In the construction of an environmental culture, one must start from the professional training and the systemic approach of the university, so that the universities can constitute themselves in legitimized interlocutors in this field for the society. The strengthening of the inter-university work in this field promotes the cooperation and the collective and inter-institutional learning, which facilitates the exchange of experiences and lessons learned through the application of the indicators matrix carried out since this can be used for the study of a diachronic and synchronous perspective.
