Resumen
El propósito fundamental de la investigación es elaborar un instrumento de valoración del vocabulario de
niños costarricenses, cuyas edades van de 3 a 6 años y 11 meses. Se trabajó con una población de 237 niños de 4 años a 6 años y 11 meses, que asistieron durante el año 2008 a seis instituciones de educación preescolar:
dos públicas, dos privadas y dos CEN-CINAI. De ese total se seleccionó una muestra de 101 preescolares,
que produjeron textos de 50 enunciados. No se consideró el rango de tres años, dada la dificultad de obtener producciones textuales de cincuenta enunciados durante una sesión de trabajo. Para el cumplimiento de este proyecto se realizaron las siguientes actividades:
I. Lectura e investigación bibliográfica.
II. Integración del corpus.
III. Definición de criterios y alcances del test de vocabulario para niños costarricenses de 3 a 6 años
(TEVONIC)
IV. Selección de las unidades léxicas que formaron parte del test de vocabulario.
V. Consulta con expertos.
VI. Ilustración y definición de las unidades léxicas seleccionadas.
VII. Normalización del test de vocabulario para niños costarricenses de 3 a 6 años (TEVONIC).
VIII. Escritura del manual: fundamentos teóricos, administrativos y evaluación del test.
IX. Divulgación del test de vocabulario para niños costarricenses de 3 a 6 años (TEVONIC).
Dentro de los resultados más relevantes de este proyecto de investigación se destacan los siguientes:
• Conclusión del libro “Test de vocabulario para niños costarricenses de 3 a 6 años – TEVONIC”, tomo
I y tomo II.
• Artículo “Diversidad de vocabulario en los preescolares. Aportes para valorar su competencia léxica"
ABSTRACT: The fundamental purpose of this research is to develop an instrument to evaluate the vocabulary of the Costa Rican children, whose ages range is from 3 to 6 years and 11 months. We worked with a population of 237 children from 4 years to 6 years and 11 months, who attended during 2008 to six institutions of preschool education: two public, two private and two CEN-CINAI. From this total, a sample of 101 preschoolers was selected, which produced texts of 50 sentences. The range of three years was not considered, for the difficulty of obtaining textual productions of fifty statements during a work session. For the fulfillment of this project, the following activities were carried out: I. Reading and bibliographical research. II. Integration of the corpus. III. Definition of criteria and range of the vocabulary test for Costa Rican children from 3 to 6 years old (TEVONIC) IV. Selection of the lexical units that were part of the vocabulary test. V.
