ABSTRACT: The Immersion Museum of Costa Rican cultures is a project that seeks to create an non-linear interactive space called "Thresholds: the Broken Mask". Its objective is to develop a virtual application where users through interaction, collaboration, production and completion of tasks and missions are capable of acquiring knowledge on the ways of coexistence, beliefs, values and the production of material culture of ancient villages in Costa Rica. In order to carry it out, research was done to identify the academic and creative content relevant to the project. In terms of content, the Boruca village was chosen for its basket weaving, salt extraction, fabric dying, oral history and the vitality of certain practices have had in the past years with a great active participation of organized community groups. The initial script was validated by experts in different fields such as Anthropology, History, Education and Linguistics. The purpose of the interviews was to determine the relevance of the chosen topics and their scientific and historic validity. Once the content was validated, the logic of the sagas, missions or other activities was designed which would allow for the user to have an immersive experience in the Boruca culture so that a trip to the past could construct the ways of life, their beliefs and the community's living environments. On the other hand, professional services were hired in order to graphically design the application and generate its programming and implementation of the ALPHA version. The UNITY platform was chosen for its development. Once was proven to be an educational tool, it will be presented to potential sponsors (Ministry of Education, National Insurance Institute, Ministry of Culture) interested in investing in the immersive museum to continue with expansion to other sagas about other native tribes of Costa Rica. The conclusions are the following: The stages of pre-production, programming, and production of an application that has great graphics quality and whose contents are expected to be of great motivation for the students of the first cycle of primary education were successfully completed. What remains to be complied with is the assessment of the application as soon as the I cycle of 2016 begins in order to give continuity to the project that started in January of 2016 “Beyond the Mobile Book: 3D Applications and Augmented Reality: the Case of the Borucas".
