Resumen
Este es un manual práctico para docentes que trabajan con personas con autismo y otros trastornos del desarrollo. Brinda estrategias para el manejo de diferentes conductas en el aula, las cuales se abordan mediante ejemplos concretos; para una mejor aplicación, se desarrollan también algunas técnicas de modificación de conducta, las cuales facilitan el proceso educativo.
Adicionalmente, se ofrece una definición del autismo, se anotan los principales mitos que sobre esta población existen en Costa Rica, y se indica cómo diseñar programas de intervención, utilizando reforzamiento positivo, además de introducir al personal docente en el proceso para la enseñanza de la lectura, de manera que pueda diseñar sus propios programas e irlos graduando y enriqueciendo, de acuerdo con las características de cada estudiante.
El texto es de fácil lectura. Está apoyado en imágenes, diagramas y ejercicios graduados que pretenden facilitar la acción educativa por medio de la intervención conductual en el aula.
ABSTRACT: This practical handbook is for teachers working with autistic people and other developmental disorders. It provides strategies for the management of different behaviors in the classroom which are addressed through specific examples. In order to improve its implementation, some behavior modification techniques were developed which facilitated the educational process. In addition, a definition of autism is provided; the major myths that exist about this population in Costa Rica are established; and the way to design intervention programs are shown using positive reinforcement, in addition, to introducing the teaching staff to the process of teaching reading so that they can design their own programs and adjust and enrich them based on the characteristics of each student. The text is an easy read. It has the support of images, diagrams and exercises which have been adjusted to facilitate the educational process by means of behavioral intervention in the classroom.
