Resumen
Este trabajo tiene varios propósitos; en primer lugar, complementar, partiendo de un diagnóstico objetivo y empírico de la educación pública pre-universitaria, el panorama dado en el documento “Educación para el Desarrollo”, de la Cámara de Industrias de Costa Rica. También pretende llenar el vacío que el citado documento deja al no especificar causas de los problemas detectados en la educación pre-universitaria, enfatizando las que se refieren a la enseñanza de las Ciencias. Se parte de la premisa fundamental de que ésta es esencial para un mejor desarrollo de la ciencia y la tecnología en el país.
Primero presenta una revisión de la situación actual, luego enumera algunas posibles causas de la situación actual y por último ofrece sugerencias concretas a los problemas encontrados.
ABSTRACT: This work has several purposes; Firstly, to complement, starting from an objective and empirical diagnosis of pre- university public education, the panorama given in the document "Education for Development", of the Chamber of Industries of Costa Rica. It also aims to fill the gap that the aforementioned document leaves by not specifying causes of the problems detected in pre-university public education, emphasizing those that refer to science education. It starts from the fundamental premise that this is essential for a better development of science and technology in the country. First it presents a review of the current situation, then it lists some possible causes of the current situation and finally offers concrete suggestions to the problems found.
